What garbage collection involves

Municipal garbage collection has limits. The city's truck won't touch that old recliner, the broken chest freezer on the back porch, or the two dozen bags of renovation scraps from your basement project. That's the gap Junk Genius fills. We handle garbage collection and bulk hauling for Twin Cities households and businesses that have outgrown what curbside service can handle. One call to (612) 444-5865 gets you a free estimate and same-week scheduling.

Here's how it works: our crew arrives during your scheduled window, loads everything onto the truck, and sweeps up before leaving. You don't move a thing. We donate and recycle as much as we can whenever possible. Pricing is volume-based, so you pay for the space your items actually occupy in the truck. Jobs range widely depending on volume and item types, from a single bulky pickup to a full property's worth of accumulated debris. Every job is different. Contact Junk Genius - Minneapolis for an accurate estimate.

What We Handle

Junk the City Truck Skips

If it won't fit in a bin or the city flags it as a no-go, that's exactly what we're set up for.

Bulky Furniture

Sofas, mattresses, bed frames, and dressers. Most city programs require you to call ahead and schedule a special pickup days out. We're usually available same week.

Appliances

Refrigerators, washers, dryers, and stoves require proper refrigerant handling and disposal. We manage that correctly, and we recycle the metal rather than landfill it.

Renovation Debris

Drywall scraps, old flooring, cabinet pieces, and construction leftovers aren't accepted curbside anywhere in the metro. Our renovation debris removal service is built for exactly this.

Garage and Attic Accumulation

Decades of miscellaneous junk that has no category: old tools, broken equipment, mystery boxes. We sort, haul, and divert what we can from the landfill.

Electronics and E-Waste

TVs, monitors, printers, and computers can't go in the garbage legally in Minnesota. We route them to certified recycling rather than the dump.

Yard and Storm Debris

Tree limbs, brush piles, and storm cleanup material after a rough Minnesota winter. Curbside won't take loose debris in volume. We will.

How It Works

Three Steps From Call to Clear

We keep the process short because you've already got enough to deal with.

  1. 01

    Get a Free Estimate

Call (612) 444-5865 or submit the online form. Tell us what you've got and we'll give you a volume-based price with no surprises baked in.

  2. 02

    We Show Up and Load

Our crew handles all the lifting, carrying, and loading. You point at the pile. We do the rest. No rental trucks, no heavy lifting on your end.

  3. 03

    We Haul and Sort Responsibly

What can be recycled goes to recycling. What can be donated goes to a local charity partner. What has to be disposed of goes to the appropriate facility.

Why It Matters

Responsible Disposal Isn't a Selling Point. It's the Standard.

A lot of haulers will tell you they recycle. Most of them mean they sort metal at the transfer station. We donate and recycle as much as we can whenever possible. Our crews hold MSW Hauling, Waste Management Safety, and Recycling Management certifications. That's not marketing copy, that's verified training. When you call a company with MN License #3772090-2 and 1,987 Google reviews averaging 4.9 stars, you're not gambling on whether they know what they're doing. You're calling the Twin Cities crew that's been doing this for about 15 years under Mike Reimann's name. His name is on the license. That's a different kind of accountability than a franchise call center.

When to Call

Situations Where Curbside Just Isn't Going to Cut It

The city rejected your item

Flagged at the curb, left behind after a scheduled pickup, or listed as prohibited on the city's hauler page. We take most of what they won't.

You're clearing a whole property

Estate, move-out, or garage cleanout situation where there's too much for any curbside program to absorb across multiple weeks.

You're a property manager or landlord

Tenant left a unit full of furniture and debris. You need it cleared fast, not scheduled three weeks out. Our property manager service is built for exactly this turnaround.

The storage unit got out of hand

You've been paying rent on a unit you can't face cleaning out. One appointment and it's gone. We've cleared hundreds of storage units across the metro.

The Honest Version

What We Don't Take and Why We Tell You Up Front

We won't take hazardous materials: paint, solvents, motor oil, propane tanks, or chemical waste. That's not a gap in our service. Hauling those items requires a different class of licensing and a different disposal chain, and any company that tells you they'll take anything is either wrong or cutting corners. If you've got hazardous material mixed into a larger cleanout, call us anyway. We'll sort what we can legally handle and tell you exactly how to route the rest. No runaround. We've been doing this long enough to know the right answer is always a straight answer. Common Questions

Garbage Collection Questions, Answered Directly

What's the recycling and donation breakdown for items you collect?
We donate and recycle as much as we can whenever possible. Metal goes to scrap recycling. Electronics go to certified e-waste processors. Furniture and household goods in usable condition go to local charity partners. The remainder goes to licensed disposal facilities. We sort actively, not just at the transfer station.
How is your garbage collection service different from the city's curbside program?
City curbside programs have strict limits on item size, type, and volume. They won't take appliances with refrigerant, most electronics, bulky furniture over certain dimensions, or large quantities of debris. Junk Genius is a licensed private hauler. We come inside, on your schedule, take items the city won't touch, and sort for recycling and donation rather than defaulting everything to a landfill.
Do you handle garbage collection jobs for rental properties and commercial locations?
We do. Landlords, property managers, and commercial clients make up a significant part of our work. Tenant move-outs, office cleanouts, and multi-unit building debris are all in scope. Scheduling is same-week for most jobs. If you manage multiple properties, call (612) 444-5865 to talk through a recurring or priority arrangement.
Can I get a same-day or next-day garbage collection appointment?
Same-day is possible depending on crew availability and job location, but it's not guaranteed. Same-week is the realistic expectation. We're open seven days a week, 7am to 8pm, so Saturday and Sunday pickups are on the table if weekdays don't work. Call early in the day for the best chance at a quick turnaround.
What happens if I have hazardous materials mixed in with my junk?
Tell us when you call. Paint, solvents, motor oil, propane tanks, and chemical waste require specialized handling that falls outside standard hauling licensing. We won't take those items. But if hazardous material is a small part of a larger cleanout, we'll handle everything we legally can and give you straight guidance on routing the rest. We won't leave you stuck.
How does volume-based pricing work for garbage collection?
We price based on how much space your items take up in our truck, not by item count or time spent. A quarter-truck load costs less than a half-truck, which costs less than a full truck. When we arrive, we assess the volume before loading begins. You know the price before any work starts. No surprises after the fact. Every job is different.
